The God Who Sees Me

"Thou God seest me." — Genesis 16:13 (KJV)
A person walking under the sunlight on a quiet trail symbolizing God's watchful presence

🕊️ Exposition

Hagar, the servant of Sarai, found herself in the wilderness, rejected and alone. But there, in her lowest moment, God revealed Himself to her — not with condemnation, but with compassion. She called Him El Roi, "Thou God seest me," recognizing that she was never truly invisible. God saw her, cared for her, and had a plan for her.

This name reveals God's tender omniscience. He is not distant. He is not blind to our sorrows. He sees — every tear, every sigh, every fear. What comfort there is in knowing that we are never hidden from the eyes of our loving Father!

🔍 Supporting Scripture & Reflection

"The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good." — Proverbs 15:3

God is all-seeing and ever-present. This verse reminds us that there is no part of our life hidden from Him. While this can bring a sobering awareness of His holiness, it also comforts the believer—He sees our efforts, our faithfulness, and our pain. Even when others overlook us, God sees everything with perfect clarity.

"For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings." — Job 34:21

Job declares that God's watchful eye extends to every path we take. We are never truly alone or lost. Even in confusion or wandering, God watches over His children with purpose. This verse affirms God's sovereignty and assurance that He is involved in our journey, even when we don’t understand it.

✨ Application

Have you ever felt forgotten or invisible? Hagar's story speaks to all who suffer in silence. El Roi, the God who sees, is aware of your struggles. You don't need to strive for attention or fight to be understood. God already sees — and He cares. Let His presence be your peace today.

Rest in the truth that you are known and loved. Whether you're walking in joy or sorrow, God sees you and walks with you.

"There is not a cry that goes unheard, nor a tear that falls unnoticed. God’s presence is our greatest assurance in the loneliest desert."
— Charles Spurgeon

🙏 Prayer

Lord, thank You for seeing me when I feel invisible. Remind me that Your eyes are full of love, not judgment. Help me trust You more each day, knowing that nothing escapes Your attention. Let Your presence comfort me in every season. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The God Who Holds Tomorrow

The God Who Holds Tomorrow – Devoted in Grace The God Who Holds Tomorrow In uncertain times—amid headlines filled with wars, economic downturns, and rising anxieties—many struggle with fear of the unknown. We often ask, "What does tomorrow hold?" But Scripture points us beyond that question to the One who *holds* tomorrow. Isaiah 46:9–10 (KJV) “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.” The Lord reminds us that He alone declares the end from the beginning. Nothing takes Him by surprise. His purposes are not merely good ideas; they are sovereign decrees. When we grasp this, fear gives way to rest, and anxious striving yields to trusting surrender. Stand Still and See His Salvation | Spurgeon Morning and Evening - July 24

Morning Devotion – July 24 “Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord.” — Exodus 14:13 (KJV) These words contain God’s command to the believer when he is reduced to great straits and brought into extraordinary difficulties. He cannot retreat; he cannot go forward; he is shut up on the right hand and on the left; what is he now to do? The Master’s word to him is, “Stand still.” It will be well for him if at such times he listens only to his Master’s word, for other and evil advisers come with their suggestions. Despair whispers , “Lie down and die; give it all up.” But God would have us put on a cheerful courage, and even in our worst times, rejoice in his love and faithfulness. Cowardice says , “Retreat; go back to the worldling’s way of action; you cannot play the Christian’s part, it is too difficult. Relinquish your principles.” But, however much Satan may urge this course upon you, you cannot follow it if you ...

Cause Me to Hear Thy Lovingkindness in the Morning – Psalm 143:8

Verse of the Day – Psalm 143:8 Verse of the Day – Psalm 143:8 “Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.” — Psalm 143:8 (KJV) Morning is a sacred time—quiet, unspoiled, and full of potential. In this psalm, David voices a prayer we all need: to begin each day with the assurance of God's steadfast love and divine direction. The verse is not merely poetic; it’s a deep soul-cry from one who knows his utter dependence on God. God's “lovingkindness” isn’t a passing emotion. It’s His covenantal mercy—unfailing, active love rooted in His promises. When we ask to hear of it “in the morning,” we are choosing to start our day centered on God's grace rather than our fears or agendas. And when we ask to “know the way wherein [we] should walk,” we are acknowledging that we d...
