Unshaken in the Storm

Stormy sky over peaceful sea

With global uncertainty, economic pressures, and personal trials rising like tides, many are left asking, “Where is peace to be found?” It’s tempting to think that peace comes when our circumstances change. But Scripture teaches us that peace begins not in our surroundings, but in the One who governs them.

Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV)
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”

The promise of perfect peace is not tied to our ability to control outcomes, but to our trust in the God who is already in control. Isaiah reminds us that peace is preserved in the heart that is fixed on the Lord. This peace does not deny the storm — it endures through it because the anchor is sure.

God’s sovereignty doesn’t mean we won’t face hardship. It means no hardship can remove us from His care or undo His plan. Just as Jesus calmed the storm for His disciples, so He governs every wave that crashes against our lives.

Supporting Scripture

Psalm 29:11 (KJV)
“The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.”

This peace is not manufactured—it is gifted. God blesses His people with strength and peace, even in difficulty. The world cannot offer this, because it flows not from circumstance, but from covenant relationship with a faithful God.

Application

In your moments of anxiety, take a breath and ask: “Is my mind stayed on Him?” Open His Word. Meditate on His promises. He who holds the world holds you. Rest in that today—not just when the storm passes, but right in the middle of it.

Ways to remain unshaken:

  • Start your day with Scripture and prayer
  • Journal how God has been faithful before
  • Memorize Isaiah 26:3 and pray it when anxious
  • Encourage someone else going through a storm
“When once the master of the storm is on board, the ship cannot sink.” – C.H. Spurgeon
Prayer:
Lord, in the midst of uncertainty, fix my heart on You. Let my peace not rest on what I see, but in who You are—faithful, sovereign, and unchanging. Help me to trust You even when waves rise, knowing You are the Master of the storm. Amen.

The God Who Holds Tomorrow

The God Who Holds Tomorrow – Devoted in Grace The God Who Holds Tomorrow In uncertain times—amid headlines filled with wars, economic downturns, and rising anxieties—many struggle with fear of the unknown. We often ask, "What does tomorrow hold?" But Scripture points us beyond that question to the One who *holds* tomorrow. Isaiah 46:9–10 (KJV) “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.” The Lord reminds us that He alone declares the end from the beginning. Nothing takes Him by surprise. His purposes are not merely good ideas; they are sovereign decrees. When we grasp this, fear gives way to rest, and anxious striving yields to trusting surrender. Stand Still and See His Salvation | Spurgeon Morning and Evening - July 24

Morning Devotion – July 24 “Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord.” — Exodus 14:13 (KJV) These words contain God’s command to the believer when he is reduced to great straits and brought into extraordinary difficulties. He cannot retreat; he cannot go forward; he is shut up on the right hand and on the left; what is he now to do? The Master’s word to him is, “Stand still.” It will be well for him if at such times he listens only to his Master’s word, for other and evil advisers come with their suggestions. Despair whispers , “Lie down and die; give it all up.” But God would have us put on a cheerful courage, and even in our worst times, rejoice in his love and faithfulness. Cowardice says , “Retreat; go back to the worldling’s way of action; you cannot play the Christian’s part, it is too difficult. Relinquish your principles.” But, however much Satan may urge this course upon you, you cannot follow it if you ...

Cause Me to Hear Thy Lovingkindness in the Morning – Psalm 143:8

Verse of the Day – Psalm 143:8 Verse of the Day – Psalm 143:8 “Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.” — Psalm 143:8 (KJV) Morning is a sacred time—quiet, unspoiled, and full of potential. In this psalm, David voices a prayer we all need: to begin each day with the assurance of God's steadfast love and divine direction. The verse is not merely poetic; it’s a deep soul-cry from one who knows his utter dependence on God. God's “lovingkindness” isn’t a passing emotion. It’s His covenantal mercy—unfailing, active love rooted in His promises. When we ask to hear of it “in the morning,” we are choosing to start our day centered on God's grace rather than our fears or agendas. And when we ask to “know the way wherein [we] should walk,” we are acknowledging that we d...
